Dan and Gabriel founded Hinge Health in 2014 while doing their PhDs in the medical sciences. They both had personal experiences with musculoskeletal conditions - Dan broke his arm and leg in a biking accident, and Gabriel tore his ACL on the judo mat. They both had surgery and endured 12 months of rehab. While physical therapy was effective, keeping up with the regimen was tough. The frustrations they felt throughout recovery inspired them to start Hinge Health.
Dan and Gabriel bonded over a belief that technology could have largely automated the care they received - only at a higher fidelity and convenience. They knew that if they could automate the delivery of physical therapy, they’d be able to automate other areas of healthcare too.
Fast forward 11 years, and we’ve built a technology platform for back, joint and muscle pain that’s trusted by over 2,550 clients and available to nearly 20 million people at a zero dollar co-pay to them.
We use software, including AI, and wearable technology to largely automate musculoskeletal care, all overseen by a highly-efficient care team. Plus, our platform is supported by many peer-reviewed research articles, studies and outcome analyses that have consistently validated our clinical outcomes and the ROI we deliver to our clients.
Delivering care by leveraging technology means not only a more scalable and efficient model, but it also allows us to better address a number of areas.
- First, we’re able to provide high-quality and consistent care. Provider quality and adherence to best practices can vary dramatically. With technology we believe we can redefine what best practice care should be.
- Second, we’re able to better personalize care thanks to the data we can capture on outcomes, engagement, and satisfaction.
- Third, we’re able to provide convenience and access, delivering care anytime, anywhere.
- And lastly, perhaps counter-intuitively, automation allows us to add a human touch more purposefully. Many human interactions in healthcare today are with billing departments or reception desks - not actual providers. Our platform allows us to add human touch more thoughtfully, while removing the frustrating parts.
Over the last 11 years, we’ve built a business that we believe will create an inflection point in healthcare. We hope you join us.
